If you live in Alaska try using plastic cord sold in Lowe's, Home Depot type stores. Then just hose off when it gets dirty.

In india, my mom preparing such design for either covering table or sweet dish in special moments when guests are coming to our house.. we have not imagined this way.. reason might me pollution and dusts here..
