Yeah!! I completed this blanket today...yippeee!

I'm watching the yule log on tv...so nice to see
a fire going in a fireplace when you don't have one.

This blanket was made from yarn I randomly picked out of
my yarn room...sat down and started crocheting. I did rows
of Double crochet, single crochet, half double crochet,
rows of clusters, just made it up as I went along crocheting
and relaxing. Gave this to a friend of mine. She loves it
and was very surprised.

Friday we went fishing and I took along some
HUGE knitting needles to play around with
an idea I had for scarves...
After fiddling for a bit my idea looked great so
I continued with my scarves idea.

They are so very soft and pretty and very fast
to knit.

I've been busy crocheting away.
I'm working on a few blankets pictured below. One is the American Indian blanket and the other is called scrappy stair steps...hope to be finished with them soon.

I was also in a little Holiday craft fair
and created some cute little hair scrunchies
that were a big hit. Here they are in a basket
along with my little hot pads.

Can't believe there are only 111 days until Christmas...wow
Found this pattern surfing the Internet and thought I'd give
it a try. Its a free vintage pattern. I don't like the way
it pulls up in the middle of each side. I'm thinking of trying
it again but using half double crochet stitches instead of single
crochet stitches...maybe even double crochet stitches.
I used a size 'G' hook and Peaches and cream cotton.
I also only did 6 rows of the 14 row pattern...

GAUGE: 5 sc make 1 inch; 5 rnds make 1 inch.

Starting at center with Spanish Red, ch 4. 1st rnd: 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, (ch 1, 3 dc in same ch) 3 times; ch 1, drop Red, insert hook in top of ch-4 and draw a loop of White through loop on hook. 2nd rnd: With White, sc in same place as sl st, sc in next 2 dc, * ch 2, sc in next 3 dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, drop White, insert hook in first sc, draw a loop of Red through, thus changing color - always change color in this manner. 3rd rnd: Sc in same place as sl st and in next 2 sc, * (thread over and insert hook in Red ch-1 sp 2 rnds below, draw loop up to same height as rnd in work) 3 times; thread over and draw through all loops on hook (puff st made), ch 2, make another puff st in same place, sc in next 3 sc. Repeat from * around, ending with puff st, ch 2 and puff st. Drop Red, pick up White. 4th rnd: 2 sc in same place as sl st, * sc in each sc to next puff st, sc in puff st, thread over, insert hook in ch-2 sp 2 rnds below and complete a puff st, ch 2, puff st in same place, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Change color (there are 2 more sc between corners on each side of rnd). Repeat the 4th rnd until 14 rnds in all have been completed. Break off White. 15th rnd: With Red sc in same place as sl st, * sc in each sc to next puff st, sc in puff st, 3 sc in next sp. Repeat from * around. Join. 16th rnd: Sc in each sc around, making 3 sc in center sc of 3-sc group at each corner. Join and break off. Make another piece the same way.

With wrong sides facing and working through both thicknesses, attach Red to center sc at any corner, 3 sc in same place, sc in each sc around, making 3 sc in center sc at each corner. Join and break off. With Red sc closely around bone ring. Join and break off. Sew in place.

WOW!! Can't believe it's already Labor Day weekend...
Where did August go...zooooom it was gone.
I had a great vacation in Roseville/Sacramento area visiting my Aunt
and Cousin and best friend from High School the last week of August.
I took lots of pot holders so they could all pick and choose what they wanted.
My friend took us to the local Casino and we had a ball, even won a little
money playing penny machines.

Here are some of the things I've completed and am still
working on.

I completed this granny square on August 1st.
I used Simply soft by Caron yarn.
A G hook. Traditional granny square.
Crocheted as you go using Lucy's method from
Attic24 for crochet as you go.
Then I put a 4 row edge around it.

My best friend snagged it from me...hehehehe

Blue Squares

Vacation this week...Nice and relaxing.
I had these two skeins of a different looking striped yarn
that I didn't know what to do with so they ended up being
a granny square lapghan...10 by 10, three round granny.
Instead of a border I made solid grannies in the color Heather all around.

This is a work in progress because I ran out of yarn.

These are 2 row granny's crocheted together as-you-go.
The blanket is 17 squares by 14 squares.
The squares are 3x3 inches.
It's really soft and nice. I was using 'I love this
yarn' Cranberry stripe.

I wish all of the Fathers out there a Happy Fathers Day!
It's been a very busy weekend.
I completed another granny afghan for my friends birthday..
surprise surprise...hehe I started with squares then went
around the entire afghan with the same colors in my squares to
complete it. It reminds me of a Spring time garden.

Also completed yet another Tire cover which I haven't put on
my Jeep yet but will later today and follow up with a
picture of it on my Jeep...but for now here it is laying all
limp on the afghan I completed yesterday...I like this one better
than my 1st 4th of July tire cover.

Finally on the Jeep

Right now I'm working on these squares I completed yesterday.
I'm going to put beige around them followed by black to
complete this afghan. Hope to get it almost completed today while
watching Rory hopefully win the US Open Golf tournament.

Yeah!! Rory won the US Open...What a good golfer he is.
I was able to put all the beige on the squares. Now off
to finish the blanket.

I finished this one on Memorial Day but haven't
put it on the Jeep with all ugly weather we've been
having here.
The color is really a bright purple too but looks
more on the navy side in the picture.
I'm having a great time dressing my Jeep.

I just tried this at lunch time...isn't it cute

First string 5 pony beads on your yarn and after you
do the chain 5 in my pattern below pull up a bead
on your yarn and then do your first single crochet
stitch then follow the pattern until the next single
crochet and do the same to the rest of the single
crochet stitches.

I love this...only wish I had of done it to the 100 others I made
over the long weekend...hahahaha

my co-workers nephew that I started on Thursday

webbing up the sides of the big points. Its a little
scrunched up in my chair but you get the idea
of what it is.

A gal that works at the Pub we go to ordered a San Jose
Shark Scarf from me. I created these scarves last
weekend so she can take her pick. Each scarf is roughly
72 inches long. My camera didn't pick up the nice Teal
color or the fact that the white has teal colored sparkles
running through it. Time for a new camera.

Thanksgiving

After all that crocheting for two craft fairs I took the
week of Thanksgiving off and went fishing with my husband...
It was cold. Only reached 40 degrees all day so my
crocheted scarf came in handy. We walked down a nice
path pushing our little carts with all our gear.
I was able to also create these two cute necklace scarves.

Vacation blues...

We went on vacation Sept 7th. The minute we un-hooked
the 5th wheel I went over and pulled the stairs down and
also a muscle in my back...ugh...it is now the 26th of September and I am finally able to walk standing straight..still using two canes to walk for support.
What was bad was I was unable to crochet or knit because I couldn't sit or stand
for very long...it sucked.
Here is a picture I took of a red tail hawk in flight. Its in the middle right hand side of the picture under the tree. He was sitting on the electrical stump of this
campsite next to us but I couldn't move fast enough to get my camera for that shot.

I've been crocheting little Handy Dandy market bags when I can...
I'll take pictures and post them soon.

Memorial Day weekend Scarves

We went on vacation for a week in our 5th wheel.
We caught a few trout and had a very relaxing week then returned
home.
On Saturday May 15th I caught some type of virus and have been down
with a fever and chills all week.
Went to the Doctor and she said it was a viril infection...
When I got home and went to the store on Friday I must have walked
through someones cough or breathed in some type of germ in
the air at the store. Ugh not fun.
I felt perfectly normal except for my temperature going up and down
all week long.
Saturday May 22 my temp is normal. phew

I've been working on and off of this afghan since April 11th.
I finally completed it last night. I made it for a co-worker
who loves the LAKERS basketball team. I made a chain of 151 and
did a half double crochet stitch making up the striped pattern
as I went. I used those One pounder skeins.

Feb 5th Knitted Chevron scarves

I bought this 100% cotton yarn called Ty-Dy last year
when my husband and I took a little trip to Fort Bragg area.
Found the yarn in this little yarn shop. A little pricey
at $12.00 a ball but had to have it. I love tye dyed stuff.
I finally found this easy pattern on the Internet that I thought
would show off how pretty this yarn is. I started knitting
these scarves on Friday night...it's a work in progress. I
will also post them when I complete them.

I knitted these hats practicing the basketweave stitch.
Which is k5, p5 for five rows then p5, k5 for five rows.
I cast on 80 stitches. Knitted them until they were about
5 or 6 repeats of basketweave then started decreases at 8 then
k2tog around , repeated each round 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, then k2tog around
cut yarn and pull thru last 8 stitches. It was fun making them.
The ice cream looking hat is a slouch hat...got the pattern
on the Internet. It was fun too. OH...the yellow object in the picture is my husbands new toy, a little remote control helicopter

Hearts Aplenty or Cuddly Valentine

I made this afghan for my friend Brenda's daughter.

This afghan is in a few books. Named 'Cuddly Valentine'
it appears in 'A year of Afghans book 5'
With the name 'Hearts Aplenty' I think its in quite a few books,
The big book of Crochet and The Best loved Afghans.

Quick to crochet it took me 3 nights after work. This is the
second one of these afghans I've made. The first was for
my cousins 30th wedding anniversary which is Valentines day.
I made hers in the color Claret and it's in my photo album.

Another Scrap Afghan

Yes another scrap afghan. I can't stop making these.
They are so much fun. This one I used two strands of
different colors of scraps to create. I usually use
one strand of scrap colors and one solid. I like the
look of this though. They are nice and toasty warm.
Great for camping. The last one I made I'm sending to
my cousins daughter who started camping in a tent trailer.

I had a bunch of half used skeins of yarn and nothing to
do on New Years Day so I started this large granny square afghan.
Completed it last night and posted it today.
I forgot how much fun a large granny is to create.

Phew...busy busy week
I created and made these scarves this week
for some of the male co-workers I work with...
shipped them off to Chicago today....
plus
I knitted a green hat for my Auntie.
Pattern for the crocheted scarf is simple.
Make a chain of desired length using whatever size hook you prefer.
Single crochet in back loops for 18 rows. That's it

Using two strands of yarn I made this like the MagicGans….
This difference is I held 1 variegated color (strada yarn) and 1 solid color (black). I like the results.
I had bought a large box of this yarn on sale but was dissapointed in the harsh feel of it. When I mixed it with the solid softer black yarn it feels much better. By its self it’s scratchy.

Two more afghans....
One is was made with solid black and a magic ball...
the other was two magic balls held together.
(a magic ball is just a bunch of yarn in different colors,
no order or sequence rolled into a ball)

I used a N hook
chained 104 stitches
single crochet in each stitch across
ch 2 turn, double crochet in each stitch across
ch 1 turn, single crochet in each stitch across
repeat those two rows until the afghan is as big as you would like it.

Dragon scarf and Baby Bear Afghan

which I think are fun to do.

Busy busy this month..

Scarves I made this weekend over Labor day holiday.

The answer for what pattern used...well this is what I did.
I did a chain of about 178 to 180 stitches using a size J hook.
or just make a Chain that goes around your neck and hangs to
your lap when sitting...then
1st row...Double crochet in 3rd chain from hook, double in next
chain, 2 double crochet in next chain, 1 dc in next chain and continue
2 dc, 1 dc, 2dc in each chain across
this makes a slight twist
(I did this for a few of the scarves..if you want it to curl more
do 2 double crochets in 3rd chain from hook, **2 double crochet in next
chain, 3 double crochet in next, 2 in next and repeat from ** across
this makes it really curly )

row 2 for both types slight wave or curly
chain 3 turn dc in same stitch, 1 dc in next, 2 dc in next chain across the
row.

row 3 single crochet in each chain across or
do a chain 3 and then in next stitch, 1 dc, chain one, 1 dc in next stitch, chain
one across...

last row..single in first stitch, *chain 3 slip stitch in bottom chain 3 (for picot), single in next two stitches repeat from *

that's it folks..easy peasy and fun

orange on one side and black on the other. He will be

"Summer/Spring Knit Simple 2009 Magazine"
I bought the magazine for another pattern and
found this when I got home so had to try it.
It was very easy to make and so cute. When you are
done you can tuck the purse inside the pouch.

Wow where has this month gone?
Went to Fort Bragg for our anniversary...
Here are some nice pictures of the California coast.
Found a washed up Octopus on the beach...
Had a great time looking for sea glass at Glass beach.

I've been knitting a shawl, cabled scarves and completed a knitted
market bag. Can't believe I'm knitting so much but it's so different
it's fun. I will post pictures of these at a later date.

s2s sampler

I just completed this Side2Side sampler afghan.
Started it on June 15nd and completed June 19th.
This was fun working with different stitches.
Started with a chain of 166 stitches. I used popcorns,
clusters, trebles, doubles and half double crochet stitches.

I made these two purses this week...
I think they turned out pretty cute..I sort
of winged it from a pattern I found...changed
the bottom then did the three double crochet around
and around to the top, 5 rows of single crochet
topped it off with a knitted 6 stitch Icord.

The dark brown and black with variegated golds,
black and brown is for a friend I've known since

I finished this Shawl on Friday evening.
You can't really see the pattern to well
because of the yarn color..I love the colors...
I had to rip out the last repeats because it came to the middle of my knees and being 6 feet tall that was pretty darn long...now
it ends at upper thigh...
